🎄 A Wish for Christmas🎄
Serving Local Families Since 2013
A Founding Program of Blue Water Wish for Kids
A Wish for Christmas is the founding program of Blue Water Wish for Kids. Since 2013, we have connected local families facing hardship with individuals, families, businesses, schools, and organizations who want to help make Christmas meaningful for children in our community.
What began as a small, seasonal effort by one mom has grown into a trusted, community-driven program rooted in compassion, dignity, and local support. While our organization now serves families year-round, A Wish for Christmas remains at the heart of what we do.
How the Program Works
A Wish for Christmas uses a community-driven family adoption model designed to meet families where they are while offering flexible ways for the community to help.
Families in need are carefully screened by our team
Families are shared for adoption using family number, size, and general area (never names)
Adopters may choose to shop for and deliver gifts themselves or have BWWFK assist with shopping and delivery
Our team shops for families when needed to ensure children receive gifts and essential items
We accept donations of new toys, clothing, and gift items to help support families when additional needs arise
We share gift lists for those who want to help but are unable to adopt an entire family
This flexibility allows people to help in ways that fit their circumstances while ensuring families receive consistent support.
How Monetary Donations Are Used
Monetary donations designated for A Wish for Christmas play a critical role in making sure no child is left without support during the holiday season.
These donations help us:
Purchase gifts and essentials for children who are not adopted
Supplement gifts for children whose needs are only partially fulfilled
Shop for and support entire families of children when needed
Offset gift lists and support families who require additional assistance
Monetary support allows us to respond quickly, fill gaps, and ensure that every child receives thoughtful gifts and essential items, regardless of how their family’s support is fulfilled.
Privacy & Dignity Matter
Protecting family privacy is a core value of our program.
Family names are never shared publicly
Only our team and the assigned adopter know identifying details
Adopters may remain anonymous if they choose
This approach ensures families are supported with dignity, respect, and care.
Additional Ways to Help
Not everyone is able to adopt an entire family — and that’s okay.
Community members can help by:
Shopping from shared gift lists
Donating new toys, clothing, or gift items
Giving monetary donations to support unmet needs
Every form of support helps ensure children experience the joy, warmth, and care that Christmas represents.
