🎄 A Wish for Christmas🎄

Our Founding Program

A Wish for Christmas is the founding program of Blue Water Wish for Kids. Since 2013, we have connected local families facing hardship with individuals, families, businesses, schools, and organizations who want to help make Christmas meaningful for children in our community.

What began as a small, seasonal effort by one mom has grown into a trusted, community-driven program rooted in compassion, dignity, and support.

While our organization now serves families year-round, A Wish for Christmas remains at the heart of what we do.

How A Wish for Christmas Works

Families requesting Christmas assistance are screened by our team. Protecting the privacy and dignity of participating families remains an important part of the program.

A Wish for Christmas uses a combination of community adoption and direct BWWFK support to provide Christmas assistance to local children and families.

  • Families selected for community adoption are shared using a family number, family size, and general area rather than their names. Individuals, families, businesses, schools, and organizations can then choose a child or family to adopt and help fulfill their Christmas wishes and needs.

  • BWWFK also provides Christmas gifts directly to approved families using our inventory of donated new toys, gifts, clothing, and other available Christmas items.

  • Donations of new toys and gifts help us build our Christmas inventory ahead of the holiday season so BWWFK can provide gifts directly to more local children and families.

  • Christmas wish lists give supporters another way to help stock our inventory with toys, gifts, clothing, teen items, and other currently needed items.

  • Financial contributions allow BWWFK to purchase Christmas gifts and other needed items when donated inventory does not meet current program needs and help us provide Christmas assistance to more approved families.

By combining community adoption, donated Christmas inventory, wish-list support, and financial contributions, BWWFK can serve families in several ways throughout the Christmas season.

Building our resources ahead of time also helps us respond when an adopter is unable to fulfill a family’s Christmas needs and, most importantly, allows us to provide Christmas gifts directly to more children and reduce the number of families we must turn away because of limited resources.

Privacy & Dignity

Protecting family privacy is a core value of A Wish for Christmas. Family names and identifying information are never shared publicly. Information shared for community adoption is limited to what is necessary to help supporters choose a family while protecting the family's identity.

Identifying information is limited to those who need it to coordinate assistance, and adopters may also choose to remain anonymous.

Ways to Support A Wish for Christmas
