Emergency Family Support
Helping Families Through Unexpected Hardship
The Emergency Family Support program provides short-term assistance and resource guidance to families in the Blue Water area, including St. Clair and Sanilac counties, who are facing unexpected hardship or crisis.
This program is designed to support families who are working hard or managing caregiving responsibilities but encounter situations that threaten household stability. Our focus is on helping families navigate urgent needs while preserving dignity and encouraging forward movement.
What Emergency Support May Include
Support is provided on a case-by-case basis, depending on need and available resources, and may include:
Food assistance during times of crisis or hardship
Utility shutoff prevention or reconnection assistance (when possible)
Housing resource referrals and assistance locating temporary options
Essential household items, such as basic home necessities needed for daily living
Support and guidance during medical or family emergencies
Our goal is to help stabilize immediate needs and connect families with appropriate resources so they can regain footing and move forward.
Our Approach
We understand that emergencies can happen to anyone.
Emergency Family Support is rooted in compassion, responsibility, and discretion. Assistance is intended to help families navigate short-term challenges and connect with available resources — not to replace long-term income, housing, or ongoing assistance programs.
Each situation is reviewed individually, with consideration given to urgency of need, household circumstances, and available resources or referrals.
Important Notes
Emergency assistance is not guaranteed and depends on available resources
Support is intended to be short-term and situational
