Helping Local Students Start the School Year Ready

2026 marks the first year of Blue Water Wish for Kids' Back-to-School Support program!

Our Back-to-School Support program helps local school-aged children and families facing hardship with essential needs for the new school year.

During our first season, we've been working directly with families to provide individualized assistance based on each child's needs and the donations, inventory and program funding available at the time.

Our first Back-to-School deliveries are officially underway, and we're continuing to assist additional approved families as we complete our first season. 🎒💙

What Support May Include

Support is based on each child's needs and available program resources and may include:

  • School-appropriate clothing

  • Shoes

  • New socks and underwear

  • Backpacks when needed and available

  • School supplies when available

  • Basic hygiene and personal-care items when available

  • Other essential Back-to-School needs as resources allow

    Not every child will receive every item listed. Assistance is individualized based on need, available inventory, donations and program funding.

Our Approach

We believe children should be able to begin the school year feeling prepared, confident and included.

Back-to-School expenses can add up quickly, particularly for families already managing financial hardship. Our goal is to help ease some of that burden by providing needed items while treating every child and family with dignity and respect.

Whenever possible, we work with families to understand the individual child's needs, including clothing and shoe sizes, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Our First Back-to-School Season

Launching a new program takes a community.

Our first Back-to-School season has been made possible through financial contributions, donated clothing and shoes, backpacks, school supplies and community members who have stepped up to help us find specific items needed by local children.

We're incredibly grateful to Todd & Jamie, whose generous financial contribution helped provide the foundation for our first Back-to-School season, as well as Kassi, who generously supplied backpacks and school supplies, and every donor, volunteer and supporter who has helped us get this new program off the ground.

As we complete our first year, we'll use what we've learned to continue developing and strengthening Back-to-School Support for future school years.

Important Notes

  • Support is intended for school-aged children

  • Assistance is based on need and available resources

  • Offerings may vary each year

  • Services remain locally focused within the Blue Water area, including St. Clair and Sanilac counties

  • Donated items may be new or gently used.

  • All gently used items are carefully reviewed to ensure they are clean and in good condition.
